What a fantastic two hours tuition I enjoyed with Barry. Having only minimal skills, experience and knowledge of fly fishing, Barry pointed me in the right direction. We covered basic casting techniques, overhead casting,  then Barry taught me to shoot the line out correctly and eventually I grasped the technique of the Roll cast. Throughout the lesson Barry was attentive and exceptionally comprehensive with his tuition. Now I feel I have a greater understanding of fly fishing in terms of theory and practice. I would highly recommend Barry as a tutor; he has a wealth of expertise and is very passionate in every aspect of fly fishing. I have already booked further lessons with Barry and look forward to getting out again.

I cannot recommend Barry enough. I had never once went fishing prior to our lesson. We started with some casting on grass which I never heard of but was so helpful. When we began the real thing Barry’s words of advice gave me the confidence to cast longer than I would have. He has the patience of a Saint because I am no natural. I had a few tangle moments but was put right without hesitance. He did a few casts to see how the fish were behaving. He changed the fly for me and two casts later I had a nibble but my inexperience meant it got away. After some more helpful words of encouragement and three or four more casts I got another nibble. This one wasn’t getting away and with Barry on the net I bagged myself a beautiful brown trout. It wasn’t the biggest catch you will ever see but I couldn’t of been happier. Looking forward to my next trip north already. Thanks again Barry.
